Item Does position matter? A study of maternal outcomes in different birthing positions(2021-08-03) Ramey, Casey; Royston, Courtney; Thayil, SarathThis poster explored the effects of upright birthing positions on maternal outcomes such as the length of labor, the pelvic outlet dimension, the rate of assisted deliveries, and the rate of episiotomies. We identified that there was a decrease in the length of the first and second stages of labor, the rate of assisted deliveries, and the rate of episiotomies. There was also an increase in the pelvic outlet dimension. Collaborative care programs can be used to increase access to primary care providers in patients with diabetes who live in underserved communities (Carter et al., 2016; Chwastiak et al., 2017; Karter et al., 2017; Soto Mas et al., 2019). Emergency room nurses can collaborate with hospital administrators and community leaders to provide access to resources such as education on diabetes management.Item Effect of Provider-In-Triage Model on Emergency Department Efficacy(2021-07) Flores, Kristen; Rodriguez, Cristin; Walker, JenniferAccording to The Joint Commission (2019), appropriately managing the time a patient stays in the Emergency Department (ED) waiting room could affect the safety and quality of patient care. The Joint Commission published a standard (LD.04.03.11), which outlines the responsibilities of the hospital in managing patient flow through the ED. Various models of flow thorough the ED have been developed each with the goal of optimizing patient throughput for various outcome measures. Traditionally, ED models involved a nurse independently triaging patients and prioritizing highest acuity being seen first, termed nurse lead triage. Research has shown that turning patients routinely decreases the incidence of pressure ulcers. Wearable patient sensors placed on patients at admission have been found to better hold nurses more accountable to reposition patients adequately.
