dc.description.abstract | Broadcasting from the University of Houston, KUHT signed on the air for the first time on May 25, 1953, with the promise of providing the growing city with educational programming. Focused on preservation and access, the University of Houston has undertaken a project to digitize an initial selection of 16mm films from the station’s early years, while also endeavoring to gain intellectual control over the large broadcast collection, spanning five decades and a variety of formats. | en_US |
