dc.description.abstract | A description of multiple irradiation NMR experiments is followed by the analysis of the spectra of the retinal isomers. Several NMR spectra of the retinal isomers serve to exemplify both the double irradiation experiments and their practical use as an aid in the analysis of complex NMR spectra. Double irradiation experiments are also used as an aid to the more complex computer analysis of the cyclobutanone spectrum. The NMR spectrum of cyclobutanone was obtained at 40, 60, and 100 MHz. Double irradiation experiments were performed and the results compared at 40 and 100 MHz. The logic, use, advantages, and disadvantages of the Swalen-Reilley and LAOCOON computer programs are also given. | |
