dc.description.abstractThe primary purpose of this study was to determine the effects of a one semester student development instructional model on locus of control of male and female minority college freshmen. The secondary purpose of the study was to determine the interaction effects of the selected variables and locus of control. The independent variable was a Multidimensional Student Development Instructional Model (MSDIM) and the dependent variable was the subjects1 External scores on the Opinion Scale (Kleiber, Valdman, & Menaker, 1973). The External (E) subscale includes the 23 External items of the Internal/External Locus of Control Scale (Rotter, 1966). The selected variables were sex and instructor. The research question was: Does participation in a Multidimensional Student Development Instructional Model (MSDIM) have an impact on locus of control of minority college freshmen? If so, does it interact with sex of student or instructor? The sample consisted of 96 first semester college freshmen enrolled at Texas Southern University with equal or near equal sex distribution.
