Oxazolidinedione analogs have been found to be potent and selective Mineralocorticoid Receptor (MR) antagonists. The natural endogenous hormone Aldosterone activates MR leading to chronic kidney disease, hypertension and congestive heart failure via electrolyte imbalance. There is a significant need for the synthesis of Oxazolidinediones and related compounds. This motivated us to develop of a method for the synthesis of functionalized Oxazolidinediones that could be used in the preparation of pharmacologically active compounds.
