Abstract
Methods are discussed for the use of differential thermal analysis (DTA) in the quantitative determination of kinetic parameters of some systems of irreversible reactions. The theories of Borchardt and Daniels and of Reed et al are extended to the DTA of the complex reactions. Sets of differential equations are derived to describe the DTA and are solved numerically, by means of a successive iteration method. The behavior of DTA curves of the complex reactions is demonstrated by numerical examples and some interesting phenomena are observed. Based upon the information obtained from the numerical examples, methods are proposed for the determination of kinetic parameters when the reaction mechanisms are known.
