dc.description.abstractIn late August 2017, Hurricane Harvey hit the Texas coast. This natural disaster quickly became a social disaster. It cost an estimated 135 billion dollars in damage and displaced many people from their homes. Dickinson, Texas, is roughly twenty miles away from the Gulf Coast, making this location exceptionally vulnerable to potential damage from the Hurricane. On March 23, 2018, I interviewed Corbin Cherry. On a regular work day, Corbin is caregiver and educator in an Adult Rehabilitation Center for special needs adults. He helps with direct care, education, and the sharing of firsthand experience. Corbin and his wife foster two men, the four of them live in Dickinson, Texas. They were displaced from their home for five months because of the hurricane. The four of them had to live in a camper together. Corbin outlines his struggle and his opinions regarding the hurricane.en_US
