Abstract
Tropical Depression is a poetry collection that combines a voice-driven sensibility with avant-garde sonic experiments to scrutinize slippages in language. Ranging from colloquial to highly stylized, it celebrates the range of American vernaculars. Throughout Tropical Depression, humor is a discursive strategy to illustrate the speaker’s private, associative interiority and her obligations as a citizen in a broader cultural context.
