Item Diving into Data: Implementing a Data Repository at the Texas Digital Library(2016-05-04) Thompson, Santi; Park, Kristi; Steans, Ryan; Waugh, Laura; Buckner, Sean; Herbert, Bruce; Kapsar, Wendi; Smith, Cecilia; Donald, Jeremy; Rodgers, Denyse; Peters, Todd; Uzwyshyn, Ray; Starcher, ChristopherThis poster documents the progress of two Texas Digital Library (TDL) working groups focused on the storage and accessibility of research data. The first group, the TDL Data Management Working Group, selected a platform to act as the statewide repository. To do this, the group created a set of use cases to formulate evaluation criteria for testing potential systems. After testing Dataverse, the team made a recommendation to move forward with its implementation. A second group, the TDL Dataverse Implementation Working Group, is currently charged with launching an instance of the Dataverse open source platform as the statewide data repository for Texas. As more institutions consider developing a repository for research data, our poster presentation offers a case study on the assessment of data repositories, including potential methods and criteria for evaluating systems, as well as the challenges and benefits to building a collaborative, consortial data repository. The Problem The need for Data Management services is one of two large‐scale needs consistently expressed by members of the TDL, a consortium of academic libraries throughout the state. In particular, members are seeking a repository that offers researchers a platform for publishing, citing, reusing, and preserving research data. In response to this need, TDL has formed a series of working groups aimed at building a statewide data repository and developing services to fulfill researcher needs in the state.Item Hyku at UH and TDL: Beta Hyku and Hyku Direct(2017-08-24) Weidner, Andrew; Steans, RyanThis is a presentation delivered at the August 2017 South Central States Fedora Users Group meeting held at Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas.
