Dielectrowetting is a liquid actuation method that manipulates liquid dielectrophoresis (L-DEP). The set-up consists of liquid droplet on an array of interdigitated electrodes coated with dielectric and hydrophobic layer. When an electric potential is applied to the interdigitated electrodes, a non-uniform electric is produced, causing the liquid droplet to spread due to the change in the contact angle.The research aims to manipulate and control water droplet by applying electric field. Observing the Spreading. We were not able to observe the spreading of the droplet. We suspect it was due to some damages on the electrode, causing it to be an open circuit. We also suspect that there was not enough voltage supplied to the device to initiate the spreading.
