Several NMR spectra of the retinal isomers serve to exemplify both the double irradiation experiments and their practical use as an aid in the analysis of complex NMR spectra. Double irradiation experiments are also used as an aid to the more complex computer analysis of the cyclobutanone spectrum. The NMR spectrum of cyclobutanone was obtained at 40, 60, and 100 MHz. Double irradiation experiments were performed and the results compared at 40 and 100 MHz. The logic, use, advantages, and disadvantages of the Swalen-Reilley and LAOCOON computer programs are also given.application/pdfenThis item is protected by copyright but is made available here under a claim of fair use (17 U.S.C.
