Abstract

This study was concerned with the absence behavior of elementary, junior high, and senior high school teachers in the Houston Independent School District. A sick leave policy change effective October 10, 1972, was investigated for the before and after effects on teacher absence behavior. The cost effectiveness of the policy change was examined on the basis of available data and a twenty-five year projection. The relationship between absenteeism and selected variables for teachers in the Houston Independent School District was investigated.
