Abstract

Twenty-four subjects were tested for the development of strategies in the game of Gomoku. The experimental procedure was implemented on a computer. The level of play of the computer's offense was the independent variable. One group of subjects played a program that exhibited no offense. The other group begin play with a program which exhibited both offense and defense, later to be transfered to the program which played no offense. The two groups were then compared for acquisition of strategies. The group which had played the entire procedure with the low level program exhibited more strategic play.
