Abstract

The purposes of this study were to (1) investigate opinions of junior college business department chairmen regarding preparation for teaching secretarial administration in junior colleges (PTSAJC), (2) investigate opinions of business teacher educators (institutional representatives of the National Association for Business Teacher Education) regarding PTSAJC, (3) compare and contrast these opinions, (4) determine whether a significant difference existed among the alternative responses, (5) determine whether a significant difference of opinion existed between the two groups, (6) analyze the data in relationship to related literature and other research studies, (7) draw conclusions regarding curriculums for junior college secretarial administration (JCSA) teachers, and (8) formulate recommendations for a JCSA teacher curriculum. The study was limited to PTSAJC in business education, professional education, business administration, and teaching and business experience. A questionnaire survey was used to gather the opinions of a nation-wide sample of junior college business department chairmen and institutional representatives of the National Association for Business Teacher Education. The questionnaire was mailed to 264 junior college department chairmen and 170 institutional representatives of NABTE.
