Abstract

The design and synthesis of optimally effective drugs is normally a slow and tedious process. Recent literature evaluations of the functional relationships between structural parameters and biological activity suggest a new strategy of optimization in structure - activity studies. It is shown that this new strategy is effective for several aromatic compounds, and only five compounds might need to be synthesized before an optimally effective drug can be obtained.
