Host language interface for a relational database using procedure call interface

Many modern database management systems use the relational data model and a data sublanguage such as SQL, which is a combination of data definition language and data manipulation language. In addition to this stand-alone query facility, a host language interface is essential for the flexibility of a database system. This thesis describes the design and implementation of a procedure call interface to communicate between the Database Management System_REQUEST (DBMS_R) and any high level language. DBMS_R interfaces to host languages by means of high-level language programs calls. The most commonly used host language interface techniques are also discussed and compared.
