Abstract

The purpose of this research was to investigate: (1) the levels of the professional concerns of urban public senior high school business teachers and (2) the relationships between levels of professional concerns and six variables: age, number of years of teaching experience, number of years of business work experience, number of memberships held in professional associations, ethnic composition of student population and ethnicity of teacher. The sample consisted of 185 inservice senior high school business teachers. Participants were employed in eight urban independent school districts throughout Texas. Data were collected using the Teacher Concerns Questionnaire (TCQ) (George, 1978). The instrument consisted of two parts-Part I - ten demographic items, and Part II - a 15-item concerns data response sheet. Problem I was answered using two quantitative techniques: univariate descriptive statistics and Guttman Scalogram procedures. Problem II was the basis for seven null hypotheses. Null hypotheses were tested using Pearson r and Fisher Significance test. Contingency Coefficient, Chi Square, arid Multiple Regression analysis.
