A study of the poetry of Anne Sexton

The purpose of this thesis is to study the poetry of Anne Sexton, a living modern poet. The paper will consider her thematic material, use of the dramatic element, and technical aspects of the poet's work. The major source material will be the poet's own work, although secondary sources will be considered when they are available. I shall demonstrate that in her conscious craftsmanship and rare imagination Mrs. Sexton is a true artist and worthy of recognition as such.
