dc.description.abstractBuilt-up columns are used as Eisnibers of very important structure like offshore platforas, power transmission towers, transmission and reception towers of radio and television, etc. The critical buckling load is the important criterion of the built-tip column design. This thesis presents an experimental investigation of the critical buckling load for triangular built-up columns. Six hinged-end built-up columns prepared from pipes were tested. Test results are compared with the calculated values predicted by theory. The comparison shows that the critical buckling strength of triangularly laced built-up columns of tubular members may be predicted, adequately by the theory.
