Abstract
This research aims to provide a theoretical framework for which provides a constitutive theory capable of modeling the shape and stress distribution of the diaphragm by modeling it as an anisotropic elastic material. Equilibrium equations are derived, and a numerical solution is presented which allows for the shape of the diaphragm to be constructed at many points throughout the respiration process with a variation of different transdiaphragmatic pressure and activation energy combinations.
