Abstract

The purposes of this study were (1) to accumulate and assimilate criteria for guidance programs that might be applied to public Junior colleges, and (2) to use this criteria listing as a basis for studying the student personnel programs of the thirty-one Texas public junior colleges. The process of setting up the criteria led to (1) a review of some literature on guidance work in general, (2) correspondence with recognized authorities in the field of guidance in search of unpublished materials and (3) visits to four out- of-state colleges thought to have good guidance programs. When the collected materials and observations were combined into a list, they were sent to seven specialists in the field of guidance. These were asked to suggest additions to the out line.
