Abstract

The problem undertaken in this study was to establish and apply a procedure for critical analysis of human relations materials in the adopted language arts and social studies textbooks in Texas junior high schools. Attacking the problem required: 1) developing criteria for human relations materials; 2) establishing categories of human relations materials; 3) classifying human relations materials in these textbooks by categories; 4) determining the amount of human relations materials contained in each textbook; 5) evaluating the adequacy of the materials found.
