Abstract
The main purpose of this thesis is to investigate countably paracompact topological spaces. In the second chapter, among other things, the relationships between countably paracompactness and normality are studied. The third chapter introduces a property called paranormality, which is an extension of the notion of countable paracompactness. Paranormality is applied to some problems related to the metrization of developable spaces. In the fourth chapter, upper semicontinuous decompositions of countably paracompact spaces, normal spaces, and Moore spaces are considered.
