Abstract

This work investigates the influence of an irreversibly adsorbed substance on the selectivity of consecutive isothermal reactions in a catalytic pellet. The usual approach to this problem makes use of empirical relations to account for the dependence of activity on poison coverage. In the present study, the geometric theory of catalysis is used for relating the activity to the poison coverage and to the number of surface sites needed by the reacting molecule. [...]
