dc.description.abstractThe transmittance of the cornea, aqueous, lens and vitreous in percent was measured for nine freshly enucleated pigmented rabbit eyes from 200 nm to 2500 nm using a Beckman ACTA MVII spectrophotometer. Infrared and visible transmittance curves were similar to the transmittance spectrum of water and were in agreement with existing rabbit and human literature. Ultraviolet transmittance curves were comparable to present human and rabbit literature except that the rabbit lens allowed ultraviolet of a shorter wavelength to pass than had previously been reported for the human lens.
