Abstract
Over 1.3 million Vietnamese refugees migrated to the U.S. after the fall of Saigon in 1975, having been subjected to a civil war and traumatic escape from Vietnam. 1 Today, Houston has over 81,000 Vietnamese, making them Houston’s largest Asian subethnic group, and making Houston the 3 rd largest Vietnamese-populated city in the U.S. 2 Despite these large numbers, Vietnamese health studies are scarce. 3-5 To address this knowledge gap, we developed The Vietnamese Aging and Care Survey (VACS) and collected data on Vietnamese older adults (≥ 65 years) and their family caregivers in Houston in 2018 (N=199; VACS Wave 1) and 2021 (N=202; VACS Wave 2). The purpose of this study is to report the sociodemographic and health characteristics of the sample from Wave 2 data.
