Abstract
The purpose of this study is to survey the existing literature and to make an empirical comparison on the relationship between alcoholism and crime. The primary concern is to gain a better understanding of the etiology and process of alcoholism and crime and make recommendations for public policy use for treatment of this disease. One independent variable (criminal history) and seven independent variables were used as a model as path analysis to make the distinction. For a forecast of these variables, a model assessing a causal relationship between alcohol use and criminal behavior was used. Multiple regression was the author's statistical technique for explaining the model.
