Rev. James L. Novarro (1919-1993) was a Houston-based activist and Baptist minister who devoted his time to the advancement of the Mexican-American community. Through his participation in the Mexican American labor strike in Texas, La Marcha, as well as bipartisan voter drives, and electoral events, Novarro helped pave the way for Houston’s Latin(x) community to prosper.​
