dc.description.abstractSyntheses of 1,4-diazaphenoxathiin, benzo[2,3]naphtho[5,6,7-ij]-[1,4]dithiepin and isolation of benzo[2,3]naphtho[5,6,7-ij][l,4]-dithiepin 1-oxide are reported. All of the above compounds were analyzed through elemental analysis, mass spectral analysis and proton and carbon nuclear magnetic resonance and using two-dimensional nmr spectroscopy. Benzo[2,3]naphtho[5,6,7-ij][l,4]dithiepin 1-oxide was also examined using X-ray crystallographic techniques. Graphical presentation of the relationship of C-C-S bond angle and dihedral angle of various analogs of phenothiazine, phenoxathiin, thianthrene, and benzo[2,3]naphtho[5,6,7-ij][l,AJdithiepin 1-oxide demonstrated the correlation of changes in the C-C-S bond angle and dihedral angle.
