dc.description.abstractStudies have been done which show relationships between personality characteristics and student teacher performance. However, the evidence regarding the nature of these relationships is not entirely clear. Psychologists who have been interested in studying relationships between the personality characteristic of motivation and human behavior, believe motivation provides variations in the intensity of human behavior and gives behavior direction, such as goals, purposes and functions. A theoretical framework around which motivation could be conceptualized, and this study designed, was provided by Maslow. Maslow's theory of motivation focuses on five goals of behavior called needs; which are basic, safety, belonging, ego status and self actualization. These needs are arranged in a hierarchy of prepotency and represent driving forces behind behavior. This study used Maslow's theory as a framework to make an exploration of relationships among self concept, educational attitudes, motivation and reported competencies. [...]
