Abstract

An experimental study of the performance of ten (10) sub-sea mechanical pipeline couplings undergoing loading conditions of internal pressure, bending moment, and axial tension is submitted. The two phases of this project are as follows: (1) the macroscopic overall performance of each coupling as judged by actual visual criteria, and (2) the strain transition and the calculated stresses as the coupling is approached from a distance of approximately one diameter are compared to theoretical predictions using thin-wall theory.
