Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine practical concepts of what citizens advisory committees are, what they ought to be, and some of the difficulties which impede committees in the achievement of their objectives. From the ninety-five known committees in operation in Texas from 1952-1956, case studies were made of citizens advisory committees in thirty selected communities. Case histories of the committees were obtained through personal visitation to each school-community and through interviews with superintendents and committee members.
