Realistic QCD Equation of State from Black Hole and Hadronic Physics

Abstract

A holographic black Hole model, constrained to mimic the lattice QCD equation of state (EoS) at vanishing density, describes the deconfined or QGP phase at medium to high temperatures and chemical potential and is in excellent agreement with the state-of-the-art Lattice QCD results at finite density. This holographic model predicts the location of the QCD critical point and a line of first order phase transition. However, it provides a poor description of the hadronic phase, present at low temperatures, where an effective approach, the Hadron Resonance Gas (HRG) model with Van der Waals interactions is better suited to analyze the confined phase. We propose to merge the Holographic and HRG EoS, within their regimes of validity, to obtain a more comprehensive description of the equilibrium properties of strongly interacting matter at finite temperature and density.
