Numerous methods can be found in the literature for the separation of hydroxyanthraquinone derivatives present in several vegetable laxative drugs. Most of the methods involve the use of chromatography, either on columns, on paper or by the thin layer process. The main purpose of this research project was to use the method of Continuous Flow Electrophoresis to separate certain plant anthraquinone derivatives, a method which has not previously been reported for these compounds.
