Abstract

This study was initiated in 1962 in order to discover and analyze the patterns of practice that have been developed in the various major work class programs of the senior high schools of the Houston Independent School District; and, in the light of these findings, to draw such conclusions as will help to answer the following questions: 1. How are major work programs most efficiently and most effectively administered by the schools? 2. What kinds of students and what kinds of teachers fit best into major work programs? How may they be identified and selected? 3. What particular kinds of techniques, approaches, and procedures have been developed as effective practices to provide more challenging programs and more adequate learning experiences for academically talented students?
