dc.description.abstractThis thesis discuses the application of the two-dimensional Laplace transform to distributed parameter systems which can be represented by two-variable partial differential equations with appropriate initial and boundary conditions. The two-dimentional Laplace transform is first introduced as an natural extension of the one-dimensional case, then various operational transform techniques are studied from an application motivation. Finally, several cases of the wave equation and the diffusion equation are solved by the twe-dimensional Laplace transform. A collection of operational as well as functional transform pairs are included in the appendices.
