dc.description.abstractA new approach for on-line mass analysis of liquid chromatography (LC) eluate by either laser desorption (LD) or ion desorption (ion impact, secondary ion mass spectrometry, SIMS ) has been developed. This method uses a rotating carbon steel belt transport interface to deliver samples into the ionization source. A thermospray vaporizer is used to deposit LC effluent onto the belt. This method allows nearly complete removal of the solvent during deposition and no additional vapor pressure is introduced into the ionization chamber. [...]
