dc.description.abstractThe purpose of this investigation was to study the relationships between selected factors concerning student teachers and their success during the student teaching experience. To begin with it was assumed that no significant relationship existed between each of eleven factors- the American College Test percentile scores, percentile score made on the Minnesota Teacher Attitude Inventory, Intelligence Quotient, grade-point average in area of teaching specialization, scores in the seven areas of temperament traits as measured by the Thurstone Temperament Schedule- and success in student teaching as measured by the evaluation of the student teaching check sheet completed by the cooperating teacher and college supervisor. It was suggested in this investigation that success or efficiency in teaching means many things; however, research did verify that one of the most valid measures of teaching effectiveness was the rating completed by the expert or supervisor. Thus, the standard evaluation sheet adopted by Sam Houston State College was used as a rating instrument and the cooperating teachers and college supervisor as the evaluator. [...]
