Abstract
Any continuous system of particles which moves along an arbitrary closed path will generate a gyroscopic torque as the path is caused to precess. Published literature does not seem to offer any analytical solution to this problem. This treatment analyzes an arbitrary three-dimensional closed system and makes a quantitative determination of the resultant torque. Additionally, an experimental hydraulic gyroscope was built and tested. The data from these tests wholly support the analytical findings.
