Abstract
A simple Chromatographic model that does not depend upon a specific retention mechanism is used to investigate the effect of sample component interactions on elution behavior in liquid chromatography. A computer program based on a Craig-machine is used to simulate the retention behavior of a two component system. Peak tailing, peak bearding, peak reversal, vacancy or deficiency peaks, excess peaks, and coherent chromatography are examined in this presentation. A technique for computer modeling (the Computer Simulation Algorithm) of chromatographic behavior serves as an aid to explain actual component interactions.
