Abstract

The purpose of this study was to develop a research management model for the academic area of science and technology of the Autonomous University of Guadalajara, which may also serve as an example for other universities. In order to obtain information for the development of the model, a questionnaire and a research facilitator’s check list were designed, validated and pilot-tested, utilizing a procedure described in the study. Sets of both instruments were answered by 49 operational personnel, 26 middle-level administrators, and 5 top-level administrators, a total of 80 individuals selected at random as internal sample, and by operational personnel of 18 different Mexican universities that conduct research in science and technology, selected at random as external sample.
