This research project aims to reveal how the disparities in educational funding impact underprivileged student outcomes in region four or the Houston area. All the districts in region four were categorized as either high rates of underprivileged students or low rates of underprivileged students. Five districts were picked at random from each category and were compared in visualizations to expose funding disparities. Some of the factors that were compared in terms of the percentage of students on free and reduced lunch were funding source, student outcomes, spending, and impacts of budget cuts. All the data utilized in this project came from the Texas Education Agency (TEA). Data analysis concluded that steep educational budget cuts for all, non-discretionary spending, and inequitable funding result in negative educational outcomes for underprivileged students. If educational funding was changed to meet the needs of underprivileged students, they would be more likely to have positive educational outcomes. Positive outcomes will create opportunities for them to break cycles of generational poverty in the long run. Changes in education funding will be considered successful when the student outcomes of underprivileged students are equal to those of privileged ones.
