Abstract

THE PROBLEM. It was the purpose of this survey to compare situations under the past way of life with the present Community system; to show the relation between human and material resource progress under these circumstances and such factors as experience, education and wealth now existing and; to present as revealed through a thorough survey of the whole community both as to human and material resources, their advantages. Sweeny was at the time of the surveys primarily dependent upon oil for its income. Two surveys of the Community were conducted and findings were widely distributed. It is believed that the findings were instrumental in stimulating, guiding and coordinating civic clubs, public officials, institutions and individuals to give voluntary efforts for Community betterment.
