Abstract

The purpose of this study was to compare the achievement in concepts of fundamentals of chemistry of eleventh-grade senior Physical Science I students taught by the enriched lecture-demonstration and the laboratory method. The pupil progress in understanding these concepts was measured by their achievement on a standardized test which was administered at the beginning and at the end of the six-weeks summer course. The term enriched lecture-demonstration was introduced in this investigation. In this, the traditional lecture-demonstration method was modified to include a number of enrichment devices such as programmed learning materials, overhead projection transparencies, filmstrips, films, and models.
