dc.description.abstractA Decentralized dynamic Automatic Generation Controller (AGC) is developed in this thesis. In this feedforward AGC, Economic Load Dispatch (ELD) and Load Frequency Control (LFC) are integrated. The area load demand is estimated using a Luenberger Observer and is allocated among the units by a Suboptimal ELD algorithm. Each generating unit is controlled by a tight closed loop controller. It is demonstrated that an unsatisfactory unit response can be improved using either a classical compensation technique or a modern linear quadratic regulator. Simulation results indicate that the proposed AGC provides better performance than the classical one.
