This thesis is a replication of the study done by Otis and Beverly Duncan on residential distribution and occupational stratification. The 1960 Census Data for Houston, Texas, were used to ascertain whether the Duncans' findings would hold when spatial location and temporal location were changed. It was found that, with a few small differences, the two distributions were essentially the same. Some hypotheses about the causes of this distribution are then put forth. These are based on the premise that different occupational groups have different attitudes and perceptions regarding such factors as amount paid for a home, status of an area, use of dwelling, quality of schools, and several other factors.
