Skills needed for entry-level office jobs in selected businesses in the greater Humble area

Purpose. The purpose of this study was to supply office education teachers with current information concerning local labor needs in the greater Humble area in relation to the curriculum presently being emphasized. Statement of the Problem. Areas of rapid growth such as the greater Humble area are providing employment opportunities in increasing numbers for students and graduates of the local high schools. This study attempts to identify the local employment opportunities available and skills needed to qualify for local entry-level office positions. Basic clerical skills of typing, shorthand, and bookkeeping may not satisfy the requirements of employers possessing high-technology office equipment.
