Abstract
The demand avails of benzene, toluene, and xylenes were determined along with their immediate end-products for each year from 1970 through 1975. Benzene from petroleum sources varied from 1118 MM gallons in 1970 to 1522 MM gallons for the year 1975. Exclusive of its use in the manufacture of benzene by hydrodealkylation, toluene from petroleum sources varied from 173 MM gallons In 1970 to 253-1/2 MM gallons for 1975 as going into petrochemical usage. In-plant values of BTX were established by several methods, and correlated with a linear regression equation, developed from actual published information on motor fuel prices and octane numbers. [...]
