Abstract

The equations of motion describing the coupling phenomenon of a two material, vibrating beam were developed by R. J. Herring. For certain configurations of the beam the Herring solutions do not apply. Solutions for these conditions are developed herein. Constants which are functions of the beam's end supports are evaluated for the six types of end conditions. A set of dimensionless parameters are defined and evaluated to aid in analysis and design of these two material beams.
