The purpose of this study was to determine to what degree a high school football player’s ability to play football is based upon known criteria and physical traits measurable by objective tests. The known criteria are height, weight, age, grade, and experience in football. The physical traits to be measured are reaction, speed, agility, and dynamic leg strength. Dynamic leg strength is used to indicate the ability of one to project his body weight through the air parallel to the ground. High school football players were given the battery of tests by the writer or by their coaches after instruction, demonstration, end written directions from the writer; the results were tabulated and evaluated, and scales were set up to rate each boy in each of the ten factors.
